Is Training safe?
Absolutely. Your safety is our primary concern. Most of our students have no desire to ever fight professionally. They have jobs, families, go to school, and can’t afford to leave the academy with a black eye feeling like the Tin-Man. They are here to learn self-defense, get in shape, and practice a fun hobby. Students are engouraged to spar once they achieve a certain rank, but it is always with control and under supervision - and it is always at the students discretion. When a student reaches the proper skill set and experience level injury and soreness are all but eliminated. All of our programs are specifically designed to ensure students reach this level safely. Academies who place too heavy an emphasis on sparring usually do so because the instructor lacks the technical expertise or they don’t operate on a curriculum. When they run out of things to teach it is usually time to scrap. This only leads to injury and sucks all the fun out of training.
What are the benefits training?
While most of our students begin martial arts to get in shape or learn self defense there are actually many other benefits that bring gigantic value including:
*Weight loss
*Reduced stress and anxiety
*Increased self confidence and self discipline
*Increased flexibility and mobility
*Increased mental toughness
*Amateur and professional fight training and management opportunities
*You'll have alot of fun
How much does it cost?
The amount varies depending on the programs you are enrolled. When investing your hard earned money your choice should not be made lightly. We recommend you consider all factors before choosing. We firmly believe that our combination of full time professional instructors, our wide variety of first rate programs, our professional training facility, and our flexible schedule makes us an awesome choice for studying martial arts in Central Florida. You may find “cheaper” schools our there, but they are likely to be located in a warehouse, have poor instructors, dirty facilities, and attract people who just want to brawl. Our friendly staff can help you set up an individual program that will meet your needs, time considerations, and budget. There might be cheaper schools out there, but there is no better value in Central Florida!
Am I too old to join?
No matter what your age or physical limitations may be we can provide you with the knowledge and skills to defend yourself, stay in shape, and have fun. We believe that age and life experience is a positive thing. We teach economical and holistic techniques so you won’t be doing any high jump kicks or spinning cartwheel kicks that are often associated with traditional martial arts. Martial arts is a self defense system not a test of superhuman strength or athletic ability. You can progress and learn while respecting you limits. Helio Gracie, one of the founders of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, trained into his 90‘s. The main goal is self improvement and you’re never too old for that!
Do you have programs for beginners?
Yes, we have great beginners programs. You will learn from an organized curriculum and work at a pace that beginners can absorb. It places a heavy emphasis on fundamentals, safety, and the fact you may be out of shape.
Do I need to get in shape before I join?
No. Our programs are designed to get you into shape by using a gradual, step by step approach to training. We are smart enough to realize that the “no pain no gain” approach is outdated and counterproductive. While having fun and learning self-defense you will get into the best shape of your life. We invite you to try one of our Muay Thai or BJJ classes and then tell us you would rather ride an exercise bike, bench press, or run on a treadmill. Using encouragement and motivation, our instructors will help to set your fitness goals and then ACHIEVE them. Why wait? The best time to start your journey is now.
Do I have to compete?
Nobody has to compete. It is completely up to the individual. Some students enroll just to get in shape and learn a realistic self defense system with no intentions of competing. Although some schools use outside competition for promotion we are not one of them.
What if I want to compete. Can I?
Yes. There are many outlets to compete throughout Florida. Brazilain Jiu Jitsu and grappling tournaments have different divisions broken up by experience, weight and age. You can start competing as soon as you feel confident.
My work schedule conflicts with class times. Do you have any other options?
Yes. All of our instructors teach private classes that can be scheduled to fit your needs. You can also get some extra training during the weekend with our open mat sessions. Give us a call and we’ll be sure to work something out. We don’t want you to miss out on training!
